Human, All Too Human by Frederich Nietzsche

Ranging from a few words to a few pages, the aphorisms in Human, All Too Human present Friedrich Nietzsche's thoughts on a variety of subjects, including the nature of reality (metaphysics); moral feelings, especially the concepts of good and evil; the argument that great art is the product of hard work as opposed to 'genius' and inspiration; free-thinking; the evolution of men, women and children; and the limitations that people put on their own thoughts and reasoning.

The first of what became three volumes, Human, All Too Human not only represented a change in style for Nietzsche after the break-up of his friendship with the composer Richard Wagner and his rejection of Schopenhauer's influence, but also a move towards the views of the Enlightenment philosophers, particularly Voltaire and La Rochfoucauld.

Ecce Homo by Friedrich Nietzsche

In this masterful autobiography, Nietzsche presents a new outlook on philosophy and reviews the ideas he developed in Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Beyond Good and Evil.

Subverting the traditions of classical philosophy, he unselfconsciously presents himself as a genius and goes on to describe how he has overcome an array of historical figures: Socrates, Schopenhauer and even Jesus Christ. Ecce Homo is Nietzsche's last word on philosophy and it is a stunning achievement.

Beyond Good And Evil by Frederich Nietzsche

Expanding on his ideas from Thus Spake Zarathustra, Nietzsche's radical polemic Beyond Good and Evil undermines the assumptions of traditional morality and encourages us to think more critically about the world in which we live.

In this famous text, Nietzsche considers past philosophers and religious leaders from Socrates to Descartes to Schopenhauer with a critical and pessimistic eye. Questioning the blind following of religious faith, he examines the deeper question of who is truly good or evil.

Beyond Good and Evil presents a unique perspective of the human mind offered through the words of one of history's most controversial philosophers.
