Diaphonised Baby Rat Specimen - Purple/Blue

Diaphonisation is a process that involves the discolouration of muscle tissue and the staining of bone and cartilage.

In the process of diaphonisation, the bones are coloured with a red dye, but after rinsing they appear light purple. Cartilage tissue becomes stained with blue dye and remains so. Throughout the process, muscles become transparent thanks to digestion by trypsin, which is also found in human pancreatic juice.

This specimen is a work of chemical and microbiological processes, the preparation of the finished specimen took many weeks!

Stored in a screw top container with glycerin and the addition of a substance that will inhibit all bacterial processes.
